Woodstock may be the home of the movie ground hog day, but it should be squirrel day. We do run into a ground hog from time to time, but far less than squirrels. This town is full of beautifully built old victorian homes, a lot of them our even labeled as historic homes. Woodstock also is home to a lot of very large and old trees jutting out of the historic scenery. The trees are perfect for squirrels to build nests or take advantage of holes in the wood, but sooner or later they get tired of the cold wet tree and set their sites on Woodstocks old victorian homes. I will always stand behind the saying “they don’t build them like they used to” meaning that the older the house the more solid it usually is. The only issues that arise from this is wood doesn’t last for ever, at this age the wood starts to warp or rot out, especially on the corners or where water is present. Squirrels can chew through basically anything, but they need a starting point to get their teeth in. These beautiful constructed homes often have exaggerated style with hand crafted crown and decorative dormers, the more complicated the roof the more gaps for our furry friends to find. This is why squirrels tend to be the most common in this specific town. Don’t worry the squirrels are very easy to catch and usually do not cause much damage, the holes are usually minor. We have a full staff that can fix anything, also don’t worry the goal is always to make it look like it never happened, so even if it is a very custom decorative wood, anything can be fixed.
